Two for Tuesday

My two finds of the week from around the store.  Could you have more fun than sorting through everything at Christmas Place?  I really don’t think so!

I love the ombré look of this mercury glass ornament – although our website photo brings out more blue color than I found in it on the sales floor.  [Item 272129]

Northwoods Santa

If a woodland theme appeals to you for Christmas, this Santa should be part of your collection!  He’s clearly comfortable in the forest, warmly dressed for a winter in the back country.  [Item 261092]

Have you started planning your 2016 Christmas – well, those of you who find the will time to take down your tree after the holidays, of course!?

Two for Tuesday

It lives!  Can you believe it?  Yes, Two for Tuesday is back.  The only question is, how long will I be able to keep it to only two?  Especially when I know you want to see more and more!

LED lighting – you know we love it because it’s durable, energy-efficient, and not hot to the touch.  It illuminates this detailed winter scene, highlighting the layers of images in a very charming way – although there was too much sunlight to see it really well in my picture (and I may have forgotten to turn on the lights).  It’s time to use a little of your Christmas imagination.

Cut-out wood chalet scene with fir trees, mountains, and snow, on three levels. LED lit.

The scene is just over 16″ wide x 13″ tall x 3.5″ deep.  This is a decoration that will no doubt become an heirloom for your family – it just won’t be Christmas until someone plugs in the chalet!

Along with that show-stopper, we have a variety of miniature cut-wood scenes lit in the same way but secured under glass domes = no dusting.  That’s a winner!

Wood cut-out shapes illuminated by LED lights, under a glass dome. Works as an ornament for the Christmas tree.

Just a touch of glitter for an extra sparkle, and natural rope trim keeps everything grounded.  There are several different scenes; as a starting point, we recommend at least three of these ornaments on the Christmas tree.

Wood cut-out shapes under glass domes, LED lit; assorted scenes; ornaments.

They will also sit on a table or in a window – but I wouldn’t want to waste that lovely glass curl on the top of the bell.

Whether you’re an established family, just starting out, or celebrating Christmas your own way, we believe starting and adding to the traditions you practice at the holidays are the best way to keep memories near and create new ones each year.  These wood-cut ornaments and mantle display piece will be treasured for many Christmases to come.

P.S.  I did it!  Only two.  See you next Tuesday with a couple of new highlights.  Don’t forget to put Sept. 2nd through the 18th on your calendar – Labor Day extended tent sale!

Sultry Spring

This week, as the temperature has shot up to 90 degrees for a few days, the sweet scent of honeysuckle has filled the air on my drive home along the back roads and even on the highways – reminding me that this is one of my favorite times of year!   The humidity intensifies the effect, and I find myself slowing down to drive with windows open and breathe in the heavenly aroma.

This year, I’ve found the vine growing at the back of my property under the big pine tree – one perk to alleviate the pain of mowing.  BTW, my blueberry bush is loaded with ripening berries – keep the rain coming and I’ll have another good crop this year – anticipation of cobblers & ice cream to come.

In that heavenly, honeysuckle frame of mind, I found this beautiful mouth-blown glass “Tree of Enchantment” ball here in the store – about 5-1/2″ in diamater, I cannot do the luminous colors justice with my camera.  The artist has created a tree trunk in the center of the ball and colorful petals all around the top – it will look spectacular hanging in a sunny window, and is sturdy enough to display outside in the garden.  Give us a call at 800-445-3396, ext 144, to order one – it comes in fall & winter colors, too.

Then, since I love pink and I love glitter, my eyes caught this beautiful pink dogwood spray!  I know the real things are gone til next year, but a spray of these in a spring wreath – lovely.  And they’re on a fantastic sale right now, too.

It’s not summer for two more weeks, no matter what tale the thermometer has been telling – let’s enjoy the rest of this sweet, sultry spring!

Two for Tuesday

I found myself in the area of the new Nostalgic Christmas tree this afternoon, and so many things caught my eye but I’ve selected these two.  It’s amazing how many different elements can work together on a tree to create a cohesive theme.

Look at the intense blue of these glass balls ~ and the gorgeous antlers on the pair of platinum reindeer.  This ball would stand out on any color of Christmas tree.

On the same tree hang a couple of styles of this cute ornament.  Did you ever make cardboard shapes and cover them in glitter and hang them on the tree when you were a kid?  Well neither did I, but if I had, I would have wanted to make them like this!  Of course, snowmen are my favorite, but this also comes in a Santa version.

Just across the aisle, I couldn’t resist this adorable snow family figurine ~ look at those beatific smiles!  There is a collection of these figurines, highlighted in beautiful pastel tints.  They look like wood, and the “carved” details are marvelous.

S’mores!  Do you love ‘em?  We have a great collection of S’mores ornaments ~ this little guy wears a cap that reads Y My RV, and you can see his RV there on the right.  What a cutie-pie!

Love RV S'mores Ornament

The decorators have set up a beautiful new western pine tree to display our Egyptian Museum Glass ornaments, and they really shine among these branches.

Here is one of the golden glass ornaments they offer.  Notice that the cut glass channels are accented with gold leaf.

Now, you might be thinking, “How bold, to juxtapose a whimsical S’mores ornament and an elegant cut glass ornament in the same post.”  That’s just the way we roll here at the store!  We are all about speaking to the variety of styles and tastes that make this world a beautiful, colorful place.  We offer an unique experience to every customer that comes in the door.

Puffy, round things!

From Old World Christmas, a blown glass Mr. Jack O’ Lantern pumpkin ornament (note GLITTER highlights).  This happy little haunter will be happy to hang around from Halloween right on into the hallowed holidays.

Here’s a hunky trio of frosty bliss, snuggled into felt wraps and caps, with pink cheeks and enviably-long lashes.  About 18 inches tall, these guys are weighted to stand up on their own on a mantle or table, and soft enough to hugged and lugged along.  Too adorable!  Call us at 800-445-3396 to order; they’re only $19.99 each.
