Two for Tuesday

Christmas ornaments, how much variety there is at Incredible Christmas Place!  We could never limit ourselves to only traditional colors and styles, that would be no fun for you or for us.  We’re always going to show what’s new, different, and fun for your Christmas tree.

My first favorite today is a [taupe fur poinsettia] with gold glitter balls and a touch of gold glitter on the petals.  (I know, the glitter is a surprise…not.  It’s me.)  It’s mounted on a spring with a clip at the end, so easy to clip into your tree for a subtle sparkle.

Taupe Fur & Glitter Poinsettia

In our never-ending quest to offer every [bird ornament] that was ever conceived by a Christmas designer, here’s a cutie!  [Iced white cardinal], sort of bristle-y but with tail feathers, and such a sweet look.  Warning: he’s just a little bit shed-y on everything.  He’s also on a clip, so you can attach him to the perfect branch with ease and convenience.

Iced Cardinal

Here’s a peak at the tree on which we used that taupe poinsettia, our 2016 Misty Lake theme.  I have more pictures coming, because we have the most beautiful ornaments working on this tree, too, along with that amazing, 4′ strand of 480 lights.  You remember that gorgeous bunny, too – see him right there in the middle?  There’s a deer head at the top, if you can distinguish it.  So much going on with this tree!  Do you like a natural look for your Christmas tree?

Take a moment and find two things to love about your Tuesday, too!

P.S.  Exciting weekend!  It’s finally here, our [Department 56] artist signing weekend.  Saturday, November 5th, from 2 to 5 p.m., both an artist and a village designer will be here, so come and claim your signed house, and take home some new design ideas for your own 2016 village display.

A Walk in the Christmas Woods

2016 Christmas Trees

A Walk In The Woods

Silent woods in the midst of a frozen winter landscape, snow over hard ground, frost on snow.  A white deer braves the cold morning – and finds himself dressed in a heavy blanket of frosted evergreens and berries with a red bow tied around his neck.  Sorry, handsome, you came a little too close to a Christmas Place decorator!  “A Walk In The Woods” is just a glorious Christmas tree, loaded with all the icy goodness of the season in red and white.

That sleigh – it slays me!  (I crack me up, I really do sometimes!)  We gussied up these fun [skis with poles] with some extra holiday greens and a [red burlap ribbon with grey snowflakes]  (- no picture available).  Here’s another choice I might consider, too, for a different take… [red and black plaid snowflake ribbon].  Don’t forget to grab a few [red birch trees] for your mantle.

More fun focal additions for the tree: the [Ho-Ho-Ho Ski Gear set] – includes skis, poles, and the Ho-Ho-Ho message; and for a bright hit of color, the [Let It Snow Shovel] – again, we added a big bow for more wow.

And the final touch – [Snowbound Santa] – dressed in cozy knits and fur, clutching his skis, ready to make his way to the North Pole as preparations for Christmas come to a glorious conclusion. (Wow, even Santa gets photo-bombed – by that cheeky red ornament, of all things!  Oops, do-over time!)

Maybe I say this every time I photograph a new tree, but this one is probably my favorite this year!  (Until the next one, I can’t claim otherwise.)

Do you choose a theme and put everything together, or do you hodge-podge it?  Back in a few days with another tree!

~Janet @ The Incredible Christmas Place

P.S. Something new with Santa this year – we’re inviting guests to bring pets for a special photo day with Santa!  Proceeds from pictures will be donated to the Sevier County Humane Society for their efforts to care for pets awaiting families in our county.  Don’t worry, your pets don’t have to be dressed to have their pictures taken with the Head Elf – but isn’t it just more fun for everyone if they are??

Two for Tuesday – Christmas Decorations

I’m thinking it’s a beauty and a cutie, both on one tree in the Christmas Gallery.  Every tree needs both large and small decorations, as well as sizes in between, for balance and a pleasing aspect.

This distressed-finish [red lantern] is a foot tall (without the handle), and can be used indoors or out.  We’ve added a flameless [burgundy Luminara candle] (not included), and a [plaid ribbon] around the top for a splash of polish and elegance.  I’m also kind of mad for [this cardinal ribbon with greetings] and [this cardinal ribbon] in the picture, too!

Red Lantern

Just love this tiny little winter scene of a brown budgie perched outside his snow covered bird house.  A second bird is hidden behind the tree branch, and a heavy winter frost coats the entire ornament. There is a second style for this ornament; [see them both here.]

Bird & Bird House Ornament

Your Christmas tree will be more interesting and pleasing to view if you include ornaments and decorations in multiple sizes – start with the largest items first (three to five as focal points around the tree at different heights), and add more ornaments as you go down in size with each layer of decorations.  That’s how a 12″ lantern and a 3″ birdhouse work in concert to make beautiful music on your tree!  Okay, I don’t know why I went musical just then, but you get the analogy, right?!  It all works harmoniously together.

We hope you’ll share some of your favorite design ideas and elements with us, either by e-mailing santa@christmasplace.com, or come on over and visit [our Facebook page] and share some pictures with us there.

P.S. Coming up this weekend, a signing with the creators of the collectible dog breed ornaments, [Joy to the World Collectibles].  If your best friend is an unique breed, come and take a look at these gorgeous glass ornaments – something outstanding for your Christmas tree!

Two for Tuesday

My two finds of the week from around the store.  Could you have more fun than sorting through everything at Christmas Place?  I really don’t think so!

Christmas Ornament

I love the ombré look of this mercury glass ornament – although our website photo brings out more blue color than I found in it on the sales floor.  [Item 272129]

Northwoods Santa

If a woodland theme appeals to you for Christmas, this Santa should be part of your collection!  He’s clearly comfortable in the forest, warmly dressed for a winter in the back country.  [Item 261092]

Have you started planning your 2016 Christmas – well, those of you who find the will time to take down your tree after the holidays, of course!?

Two for Tuesday

I don’t know why I started this with only two –  I complain about that a lot, don’t I?  Well, I’m sorry.  But if you were here in the store with me every day, you’d find it just as hard.

I don’t remember if I’ve yet shared a photo of Santa Claus this year – we just celebrated National Tailgating Day on Saturday, and Santa was in his football jersey, autographing mini footballs for his fans. We may be “All Vols” here at Christmas Place – but we sure wouldn’t turn away any other SEC team fans – or any football fans.  Sports fans, we just love all sports fans.  And spectators.  We love you, too!  Anyway, not the point, Santa is here Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  It’s a great time to come and meet him and get a head start on your Christmas card photo session for 2016.  [But if you, too, are All Vol, click here for some UT items!]

Santa tailgating in the courtyard

I hesitate to share this next one, because I know it might inspire a lot of un-Christmas-like envy in some of you .. but here goes.  Yes, if this is your idea of heaven for a workplace, you may have a future on the Christmas Place floral team!  Here, in a secret location in the store, is found a veritable wonderland of design resources.  And yes, I could only enter this room in a pocket-less jumpsuit with booties over my shoes.  True story.  [Click here if you’re immediately inspired to stock up on your holiday ribbons!]

Floral Area Work Station

Okay, yes, I was kidding about the booties!  Wouldn’t you love to have all these design riches at your fingertips each day?  Come to think of it, we probably have some very similar ribbon bolts and floral stems on sale (70% off) in our tent right now.  Hmmm.  Of course, all of this will work in your Christmas tree as well as your garland, wreaths, swags, and other arrangements.

~Janet @ The Incredible Christmas Place

P.S.  Our Labor Day tent sale continues through Sunday, September 18th – if we don’t run out of goodies before then!  Shop early, and shop often – we’re putting out new things every day, as we have room for them.  You’ll find the tent behind the store.

Two for Tuesday

My two picks of the week (a.k.a. the two picks I made that are on the website.  Y’all, this is so much harder than you might think, because we have 10,000 items on our website but we have 30,000+ items in the store!  You’re just going to have to come and see for yourself; I have so many favorites that you can call to order but haven’t yet been added to www.christmasplace.com.  It can be quite maddening, especially if you love Christmas like I do.):

Christmas Collectors

Even if you aren’t a collector, this gazebo would be a great addition to your holiday decorations.  In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Department 56, they have released a special gazebo for the Dickens Village, Snow Village, and North Pole Village.  This is the [North Pole edition gazebo], with Santa and Mrs. Claus offering a toast to all the residents of the Pole as they celebrate the completion of another successful Christmas Eve delivery.  (They do each have a glass raised in celebration, trust me, it’s just hard (impossible) to get into the photograph.)

Stocking Stuffers

Yes, this is where the line begins to try out for the [Reindeer Games]!  Who can resist these crazy reindeer in their knit sweaters and scarves with over-sized noses and booted feet?  Not Santa!  These fellows would look so cute leaping out of a stocking on Christmas morning…

Whimsical Reindeer - Christmas decoration

It’s 116 days to Christmas.  That’s 17 Saturdays.  Yes, you can officially start to get excited about Christmas, please.  We’re here for you!

~Janet @ The Christmas Place

P.S.  Our Labor Day Tent sale starts this Friday – but remember, we’ve moved the tent to a location behind the store, not in the courtyard.  It’s definitely happening, even if can’t see the red-and-white stripes from the parkway.  Come on in and find the bargains you’re looking for to get your holiday decorating underway.

P.P.S.  I almost forgot – National Tailgating Day this Saturday!  For all you North Americans, you know what this means – school colors, a grill, preferably some unhealthy-type food groups.  More to come, but Santa will be tailgating in our courtyard starting at 10 a.m., and the first 500 guests will receive a Santa-autographed football.

Two for Thursday

Yes, I just changed the name of it .. because I kind of forgot on Tuesday!  Sorry!

Here are two of my favorite finds of the week.

Karen Didion, who designs Santas in every imaginable theme, still enjoys crafting one-of-a-kind pieces when she has the opportunity.  We have received four of the one-only pieces which she has personally created this year.  This one features antique wool and faux fur for Santa, and a delightful collection of antique toys Karen acquired in her travels around the country.  I particularly love the antique tree with glass ornaments, to which she has added mini lights.  It’s just a stunning piece, and one that a Didion collector will treasure and hand down to future generations.  As you can see in the photo, it is already signed and dated by Karen, and it is also numbered as one of her original creations.

Karen Didion Santa Exclusive

Karen will be at Christmas Place on Saturday, November 12th, 2016, for a signing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Even if you are unable to travel to the signing, you can purchase a piece now and we will hold it for signing and ship it to you afterwards.  [You can see Karen’s Santa collection here.]

And for fun, in our Toyland area, we have added the cutest collection of plush animals in Christmas scarves!  This brown bear with his oversize nose and corduroy paws has the sweetest expression!  I think he’s the kind of fellow you want to have around long before Christmas morning.

Plush Bear with Christmas scarf

I’ll show you the rest of this plush collection tomorrow – fun for a Friday, because FRIDAY, right?

~Janet @ The Incredible Christmas Place

P.S. Don’t forget – our incredible tent sale starts a week from tomorrow.  Friday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 18th.  If you don’t see the tent out in the courtyard, check around back – I’m not certain where it’s going to be, but I know it will be filled with goodies!

Two for Tuesday

It lives!  Can you believe it?  Yes, Two for Tuesday is back.  The only question is, how long will I be able to keep it to only two?  Especially when I know you want to see more and more!

LED lighting – you know we love it because it’s durable, energy-efficient, and not hot to the touch.  It illuminates this detailed winter scene, highlighting the layers of images in a very charming way – although there was too much sunlight to see it really well in my picture (and I may have forgotten to turn on the lights).  It’s time to use a little of your Christmas imagination.

Cut-out wood chalet scene with fir trees, mountains, and snow, on three levels. LED lit.

The scene is just over 16″ wide x 13″ tall x 3.5″ deep.  This is a decoration that will no doubt become an heirloom for your family – it just won’t be Christmas until someone plugs in the chalet!

Along with that show-stopper, we have a variety of miniature cut-wood scenes lit in the same way but secured under glass domes = no dusting.  That’s a winner!

Wood cut-out shapes illuminated by LED lights, under a glass dome. Works as an ornament for the Christmas tree.

Just a touch of glitter for an extra sparkle, and natural rope trim keeps everything grounded.  There are several different scenes; as a starting point, we recommend at least three of these ornaments on the Christmas tree.

Wood cut-out shapes under glass domes, LED lit; assorted scenes; ornaments.

They will also sit on a table or in a window – but I wouldn’t want to waste that lovely glass curl on the top of the bell.

Whether you’re an established family, just starting out, or celebrating Christmas your own way, we believe starting and adding to the traditions you practice at the holidays are the best way to keep memories near and create new ones each year.  These wood-cut ornaments and mantle display piece will be treasured for many Christmases to come.

~Janet @ The Incredible Christmas Place

P.S.  I did it!  Only two.  See you next Tuesday with a couple of new highlights.  Don’t forget to put Sept. 2nd through the 18th on your calendar – Labor Day extended tent sale!

Two for Tuesday

As Valentine’s Day approaches, thoughts turn to romance, and to romantic spots on the planet.  Spots like Paris – I haven’t been since I was quite young, but I hear it’s aging well! I noticed this distressed-look fabric ribbon printed with iconic French images and text, and found a glittering Eiffel Tower with which to pair it.  I’m also intrigued by the chocolate brown spruce I used in this photo.  It’s such an unusual – but gorgeous – color choice for Christmas!  Pair it with a white tree and either pink or blue – yummy color palette for a tree. Eiffel Tower & Ribbon My second Tuesday find is – here I go with chocolate again – a rich, brown glittering poinsettia.  I just realized my theme – I must be anticipating Valentine chocolates coming my way!  This could be a problem on the calorie frontier .. maybe I’ll just stick to a little eye-candy instead.  (No fudge for me.  No truffles for me.  No M&Ms for me.  I can do it.  I can do it.) Brown poinsettia What’s on your schedule for romance this February – Paris or chocolate?  Or both?

~Janet @ The Christmas Place

P.S.  For a truly romantic holiday, book a get-away for two at The Inn at Christmas Place – pick your package, with choices including a gift basket, arranged roses, and more.  Why not add some chocolate-dipped strawberries from Mrs. Claus’ Candy Kitchen, or a gourmet Valentines apple to share?  We have a lot of ways to help you celebrate!

Choc strawberries

Two for Tuesday!

On the day!

What we love today – lots of hammering and sawing and banging .. and the stairs have moved!

playhouselr

Can you believe it?  The elves are hoping they’ll leave us the little cubby underneath – just the right size for a few elf bunk-beds, don’t you think?

Love the beautiful and wild garland choices we have – some with lights, some with red berries and leaves, some with frost and snow.  What’s your favorite?

Garland

Santa may be way up north or down by the beach for a few months, but there’s still plenty to enjoy as you stroll through Christmas Place, Second Nature, and The Partridge & Pear Boutique.

~Janet @ The Christmas Place

P.S.  Oops!  Did I forget to mention Mrs. Claus’ Candy Kitchen?  Now would be a great time to pre-order your fresh-dipped strawberries – Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it!
