Christmas trees! More Christmas trees! (part C)

.. did you run out for a cup of hot chocolate or cider?  Because more trees -coming at you now ..

A white ballerina tree, glittering with white crystal-like leaf sprays and sparkling ribbons.  (I think guests may be harvesting ornaments from this tree already!)

Right next to it, our ‘tween tree, a lavender dream filled with Hello Kitty lights, texting cell phones, Converse All Stars, high heels & Uggs.

Y’all, I am just mad for these pink and blue flowers!

Are you more of a traditionalist?  Here’s a spectacular red-and-green composition.

What the..?  Alright, who’s the smarty pants who thinks they should be rewarded with a big slice of cake after all that tree-decorating inspiration??  Calling The Partridge & Pear for take-out, are you?!

~Janet @ The Christmas Place

P.S. That cake number is 865-868-0575 ..

P.S.S. Sorry about the “y’all” – I was just over in The Boutique and they have a cute new collection of Southern Sass T-shirts!

Christmas trees! More Christmas trees! (part 2)

Enjoy some more …

Wouldn’t everyone use barbed wire on their Western Christmas tree?   (I think it’s made of leather, actually.)

Check out the pheasants in the top of the tree:

This one was one of the hardest to photograph – it is so very sparkly, from the stems added as decorations to the foil accents and multitude of light strands and lighted stems – it sparkles much more than I can show here.  Someone catch that Elf before he falls off the top hat!

Do you see the reindeer flying a plane out of the middle of the tree?  I’ll help with another photo:

Poor girl has lost a propeller blade!  I hope it’s around to be reattached.

Santa’s helping the elf jesters and getting into the decorating spirit!

I really love the swirly red & green stems!

Christmas trees! More Christmas trees! (part 1)

Do you suppose there really is a green tree under there somewhere?

You, too, can suspend snowflakes from the ceiling – just need a little cup hook!  These things weigh almost nothing.

Now I see – it’s a flocked green tree.

Just next door, a snowman tree:

The snowflakes in this tree are really glittery white – it surprised me when they showed pink in the photograph – there’s more color in white than we might see.  I wonder if I could get them to look blue from another angle.

Okay, I’ll stop here for now so the system doesn’t crash & burn.  Follow on…

Are you ready for the weekend?!

We sure are!  It’s going to be super busy here at Christmas Place.  I think we’ll have something for everyone this weekend.

  • Department 56 Signing with Barbara Lund, lead building designer.  Have you checked out the exclusive Partridge & Pear?  The design was based on our very own restaurant!  The signing is Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 – the first 50 customers to purchase a Department 56 collectible will receive a free gift!  We’ll also have two door prizes – a set of 5 mini Dickens village houses (ornaments) that have been introduced and retired this year, signed by Barbara; and a copy of “A Christmas Carol” signed by the great-great-grandson of the author, Gerald Charles Dickens.  Total value – $250!
  • Department 56 Secondary Market, Saturday & Sunday in our courtyard.  56 collectors will be selling retired pieces from their own private collections – it’s a good way to fill in the gaps with your village collection.
  • TrollBeads Trunk Show – The Boutique at Christmas Place is holding its second fall trunk show – lots of bead, clasp, and bracelet specials.  They offer a universal bead, too, that fits many popular bracelet styles.  Shop today through Sunday!
  • Radko Ornament signing with Mario Tare.  Christopher Radko, the founder, has been gone from the company for several years, and Mario was his designer for several years even before Christopher left.  Mario is a really charming and delightful designer – you’ll love this opportunity to meet him and get his signature on the newest Radko ornaments.  Meet Mario from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Byers’ Choice Carolers – Bob Byers, current president, will be here on Sunday & Monday for a signing of his company’s collection of delightful caroler figurines.  He’s also bringing a very exclusive giveaway with him – a Polish Star Santa caroler that is not available in the market place, and is signed by Joyce Byers, the founder & Bob’s mother.  Meet Bob on Sunday between 3 and 5 p.m., and on Monday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Meet Gerald Charles Dickens, the great-great-grandson of the literary master Charles Dickens!  Gerald will be in the store on Sunday and Monday to sign copies of “A Christmas Carol.”  He is also performing in 3 shows at The Inn at Christmas Place.  Sunday and the Monday matinée shows are sold out, but we still have tickets available for an 8:00 p.m. Monday night performance – call MJ Pappas at 800-465-9644 to purchase show tickets.  Better yet, purchase Dinner & Show tickets!  Have dinner at The Partridge & Pear Restaurant then enjoy Gerald’s one-man enactment ofA Christmas Carol.  It’s an evening you will not want to miss.  This is Gerald’s second appearance at The Inn at Christmas Place – and we plan to welcome him again next year for the 200th anniversary of A Christmas Carol.
  • Floral Demonstration – on Saturday afternoon, our amazing floral design team will host another demonstration session, on how to decorate a mesh box.  I think they include a little tutorial on bow-tying with this demo.  Get ready for Christmas decorating!

We’re also having two sales here at the store right now – Decorative Christmas Lights – buy one, get a second for half price; and Decorative Garland – buy two, get a third strand free!  Also, while they last, every purchase over $100 receives a free gift.

If you’re anywhere in the area this weekend, be sure to come on in – you know, we’re also giving free steam engine train rides on our miniature train in the parking lot this weekend – I almost forgot!

Okay, after all that, I’m gonna need about a pound of fudge to regain my strength .. the Candy Kitchen is now making their famous Pumpkin flavor .. See y’all later!

Winterfest arrives tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the big day – or should I say night – when Pigeon Forge turns on all 5 million lights for Winterfest!  There will be plenty of fun and excitement for those who come to Patriot Park on Tuesday, November 8, for the traditional kickoff of Winter in the Smokies – this year, in honor of Veterans Day, the event begins with a Salute to Veterans  parade on the Parkway starting at 4:30 PM.  Many-Bears Grinder, Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs, is the special guest speaker for the night in the Park.  Of course, Santa & Mrs. Claus will be along for the parade ride, in a specially prepared carriage.

After the parade, they will both be available for photographs – come to Patriot Park and capture a special memory for this Christmas season.

~Janet @ The Christmas Place

P.S. Sevierville turns on their lights tonight, and Gatlinburg turns theirs on Wednesday night!

Our Paris Wreath

Let me show you one special wreath .. Prissy, one of our floral design team, created this custom wreath for a special benefit auction.  The theme of the event is “An Evening in Paris.”

My own sister happened to be in Paris just before we had to present this wreath, so she brought back a small Eiffel Tower for Prissy to incorporate into her design.  Prissy did a fabulous job of showcasing the figurine on a red glass ornament in the center of the wreath, along with highlighting the fleur-de-lis form and using that wonderful black velvet and gold sequins harlequin-patterned ribbon.  Someone is going to have a gorgeous Christmas decoration in their home or office this year!

This is just one example of the creativity and beauty our design team displays with each arrangement they make – and they love custom work!  If you need something unique that will really be the highlight of your holidays, come by the store and let our floral team design a wreath, swag, centerpiece, or candle arrangement for you.

~Janet @ The Christmas Place

P.S. On Saturdays at 1:00 pm, they are hosting demonstrations of how to design your own mesh box arrangement – good stuff to know!

Christmas Stocking Time!

Okay, maybe it’s not quite time to hang them on the fireplace or the staircase or the cupboard – but if you want to celebrate by personalizing with an embroidered name, it’s definitely time to order your stockings for this Christmas!

We have a whole new collection available online this year – and we think they’re pretty cute.  You can see the selection by clicking on the photo above – I’m a fan of the cable knit stockings with the pom-pom ties!  The four-on-the-floor family members are included, too – check out the styles for Cleo & Buster.  You can choose from three different fonts for names.

‘Tis the season – to shop for stocking stuffers, too!  You’ll find lots of ideas on our site – I suggest starting with our Home Decor and Gifts category.

Are you getting ready for St. Nick’s next visit?

Letters to Santa

“Dear Santa,

My name is Nicholas, and I am 6-1/2 months old.  My Mimi is writing this letter to you.  In 2009, my daddy proposed to my mommy at The Inn at Christmas Place.  My daddy was the first one to ever propose to someone at this hotel.  My mommy was so surprised, and she cried and cried because you, Santa, helped surprise my mommy.  I entered this world in April, 2011.  As soon as daddy can save some money he is bringing me to see you.  Santa, my parents love you and Christmas.  That is why I am named Nicholas Richard – Nicholas for you and Richard for my grandpa.  He loves me a lot, Santa.  I won’t see you this Christmas season, but I hope to one day – maybe next year.  Last November, my daddy took my mom back to The Inn at Christmas Place for their one-year celebration of their anniversary.  Thank you for being a part of my mommy and daddy’s getting together.  They are happy, and so am I.  My Mimi has always loved Christmas, and she lives the spirit of Christmas all year long.  She and her friend Shirley come to The Inn all the time.  St. Nicholas, thank you for making so many children happy.

Love, Nicholas
in South Carolina”

We don’t have a picture of the real Nicholas, but surely he looks a lot like the happy fellow above.  We’re so glad Mimi took the time to share his charming Christmas story with us by writing a letter to Santa and leaving it at The Inn!  What a wonderful reminder that Christmas can speak to the child’s heart in each of us.

~Janet @ The Christmas Place

P.S. 53 days to go!
